Red Lentil and Carrot Fritters

Ingredients

  • 1 cup red lentils (masoor daal)

  • 4 carrots 

  • ½ cup - ¾ cup gram flour

  • 1 onion 

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • Seasoning - Zaatar, salt, chilli flakes

Method

  1. Boil red lentils for 25 minutes, drain, set aside to cool

  2. Grate carrots and add finely chopped onion and garlic

  3. Once lentils are cool, mix in the lentils along with the gram flour and 2 tablespoons of olive oil

  4. Start of with ½ cup of gram flour and add more if the mixture is still too runny

  5. Season to taste, I added a za'atar spice mix, salt, chili flakes

  6. Keep mixture aside to rest for 10 minutes

  7. Form tikkis and heat up a pan with some olive oil

  8. Cook on a low/medium heat  for 5 minutes on each side or until they are fully cooked through
